How to choose a handle for your account
For a business account, choose a brand name. If you're building a personal brand, use your name + your occupation (@stellamua — Stella makeup artist). If you're sharing specific content, choose a handle that emphasizes what kind of content you're going to share, like @cryptolover.
For the handle to be easily remembered and quickly recognized, it must be simple. Follow these rules:
❗️ Brevity. Keep the number of extra characters to a minimum. Don't add numbers or extra characters unless necessary.
❗️ Avoid complex spelling. If your name is hard to pronounce, try shortening it to something simpler like @sogaard instead of @sorenkierkegaard.
❗️ Multiple vowels in a row are a no.
❗️ Avoid underscores and periods. Users may forget where to put them, or even click on the wrong account.
❗️ Pay attention to the handles of your competitors. For example, if you type ‘LA autosport’ into search, you'll see a lot of accounts with different variations of handles composed of these keywords. Try to stand out from the other accounts in the query.
Profile Description
Potential clients assess the content of the account by the description in the header and decide whether to interact with the profile or not, so an easy-to-read and well-designed header is very important.
A header consists of a profile image, the account handle & name, and a description of the account. The text part of the header should convey the account's theme, location, contact methods (phone number, messengers, e-mail), working hours (if offline), and other important mentions such as handles of related accounts, link to your website, promotions, shipping information, etc.
❗️ Important when promoting: don't forget to add a link to your site or a landing page where the customer can proceed to pay.
Selecting a profile image
When choosing a profile image, choose a high-quality image that reflects the blog's theme. If you're promoting a personal brand, it's a good idea to use your own photo as a profile image.
Companies and brands, of course, choose their own logo.
If the profile belongs to a nano, micro or small business, we recommend placing aclear product image as your profile image. When you grow and gain subscribers and customers, you can create your own logo and put it in place of the product image.
Account Name
If you run a personal brand account, simply include your full name. Business accounts usually include keywords in the account name to increase the likelihood of being found in search queries.
Content
Well-designed, quality content will help your brand stand out.
When a user opens an account, they don’t see the text of the posts, they only see thumbnails of images and evaluate the account according to their impression of said images. For this reason, it is recommended to take seriously the visual component of the account – your efforts will pay off.
